ABOUT ME

Hello! Firstly, thank you for taking the time to visit my website - I hope you love what you see as much as I loved drawing each and every one of my portraits to date!

I am an Essex based artist and have lived here all my life and feel very lucky to be surrounded by countryside and plenty of outdoor space! I've always loved art from a young age, however, in my early teens I had a crises of confidence and swapped art college for secretarial college and spent my early adult life as a legal secretary in London.

Fast forward 17 years and I am now outnumbered 4-1 by my husband, two teenage boys and a gorgeous Cocker Spaniel named Cooper!

It was actually during the first Lockdown of 2020 that my creative journey reignited when I decided to use the slower pace of life to spend some time doing something for myself, and so the sketch pad reappeared after many years of being hidden in the loft!

For ages I wanted to draw my own dog and after initially investing in some watercolour pencils, I produced my first portrait - a watercolour sketch I like to call it, of Cooper! I am very critical of my work (I think if you were to ask any artist they would agree we are our own worst critic!), but on this occasion I was so proud of what I'd achieved that I popped it on my facebook page as my new profile picture. The rest they say....is history.

For me, I love nothing more than taking my dog for a walk and meeting and chatting to other owners. I've always loved dogs and am always keen to find out about their personalities and traits, so to now be able to sit down and draw different breeds is a dream come true!

Of course it's not just dogs, I love all animals and am happy to draw any beloved pet you have, albeit a cat, rabbit, horse...the list is endless and I will gladly turn my hand at anything!

I have since become a member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society, and the SAA (Society for All Artists) bought a large collection of coloured pencils and accessories and spent many hours researching and following tutorials by fellow coloured pencil artists in order to improve and learn more about this wonderful medium.

I hope you like my work and if you do, look forward to hearing from you soon!
